Orient, Ohio is a village located in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. It is situated approximately 19 miles southwest of Columbus, Ohio and has a population of around 3000 residents. Orient is known for being the location of the state's newest prison, the Ohio Correctional Institution for Women. It is also home to the Orient State Institute, a former mental institution that housed over 2000 patients at its peak. The village is bordered by rural farmland and is located near the Darby Creek and Big Darby Creek, popular recreational areas for fishing, hiking, and canoeing.
